Camping Greenwood Furnace State Park

We adore Greenwood Furnace SP, this is where we come to go swimming in the lake in the summer
and now we have been able to camp there and the camp ground is one of the nicest SP camp grounds I have stayed in. We had low expectations with the kids but they did great and loved and still a couple weeks later keep asking about when we are going again...a little brisk now for central PA but hopefully in the spring. We had fun roasting marshmallows, hiking and just spending time as a family...a little brisk but we tried our best to stay warm as you can see....

To our friend Barb

Our friend Barb passed away last week after a 4 year battle with breast cancer. Her she is holding Ema when she was first born with her husband Dave and their oldest son David. We thank the Lord for her and the impact she had in our lives and those around her. We are blessed to have known her and we are thankful that she is home with the Lord now. We will miss you Barb.

Holmes- Foster Park with friends

Another great park in the State college area...it has an older kids section and a younger kids section...parking near both...once again my kids had a blast being out and playing with friends...

Ag Progress days!

The girls got to climb this enormous tractor and hold baby chicks as well as we all shared a delicious orange ice cream float it was a very fun field trip to start out our school year!

First Day of school!

Today was our first day of School for the year. After much prayer and trust in the Lord I feel as if it could not have gone better. I was nervous since Ema is Kindergarden and it would require a lot more work for her. She did really well with it. We had fun learning about dinosaurs, our planet and some other planets and how they compare, capital letters, the letter f sound, adding and everyday life. I had fun too which makes it all the more fun for the others. Jethro wandered around and played in his crib.

Growing up we always had a first day of school picture on the porch. I hope to keep the tradition up!
We moved our table closer to the sliding door for more light and ease of me getting around and helping the girls.
Jethro playing!
Jael had her first work books this year and did really well she wanted to do more then I had planned.

Hummingbird Moth!

This thing is so cool. This is the second time we have seen him. He is hard to catch on film but look at the middle flower and the brown thing sticking out of it is the moth...you can't see the wings because they flap like a hummingbird sooo fast... he is sticking his whole head into the flower here...
check out this web page for info I think it is the clearwing one that we saw.

Delgrosso's and farewell dinner for Miss Kelly!

My parents came for a visit and we took a trip to Delgrosso's Amusement Park. The kids had a blast.
On Sunday we took Kelly out to dinner as she will be moving out and returning to school this week.
We have had a fun summer having her live with us and she will be missed.

Greenwood Furnace State Park

So here is another post about another park in the area.
Greenwood is about 16 miles outside of state college off of rt 305 after Whipple Dam State Park.
This is a great place for summer fun. There is hiking, beach volleyball, a lake with a swimming beach, playground, snack bar in the summer, historic area, camping and probably lots more I don't know about.
Check it out
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/greenwoodfurnace.aspx
We have really enjoyed visiting here. There facilities have recently been redone and are in great shape and the beach at the lake is great fun for the kids.
So if you are looking for a great day in the sun or a nice camping weekend or a hike, greenwood is the place for you.
There is also a fun grocery store, Couch's, that you can stop by on the way home for some delicious ice cream.

Jethro sporting his new Hawaiian shirt from Uncle Alex and Aunt Kim
Enjoying dinner out on our back deck.
Family fun time at Greenwood Furnace State Park.
Our little water girl...she loves to spend tons of time trying to catch minnows in the water.
We have had the opportunity to enjoy the lake twice this summer. Once with Jeff and then once with some friends. We are so blessed to have such a lovely park near by.

locking myself out

So I don't often leave my keys places
SO I am at Sam's doing my Sat morning errands run while Jeff watches the kids.
Well I am loading the groceries in and close the back door and take the cart back as I am coming back to get in the car I can't find my keys then I look into the trunk of our hatchback wagon and there they are....
and would you believe that the rest of the car is locked....
had to call Jeff to have him bring all three kids to bail me out and still had to go to walmart for the rest of my shopping so I walked over there (it is next door) and started shopping while waiting and then we all had a nice family lunch at Subway...ha ha ha
can't believe I did that...but fun to have a family lunch out...

A fun Jael quote

So the other night we were eating steak for dinner and the girls were asking were it came from.
We answered a cow.
Jael responded with
"How come it not black and white"
Jeff and I could only laugh....it was too cute...

water fun at the arts fest....

As you can see the girls had a blast playing in the water buckets at the art's fest...
