Meet the Maker: Sonia from Anchored Signs

Hi Friends! How are you? Did you have a nice weekend? Are you ready for Monday? My jewelry shop is having a giveaway this week so make sure you go and check out some of the awesome prizes.

Its Monday, and it's hard to get going with your week but hopefully things will start off well for you this week. I love having the chance to start my week with a new Meet the Maker post. Today's interview is with Sonia from Anchored Signs. I hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as I do. Without further ado lets me the lady of the day.

Where are you from? Innisfil, Ontario Canada
Where do you live now? Same as above
How long have you been crafting? 3 years. Wow, that's great.

What drew you to making wood signs or what inspired you? My passions for art and creating unique pieces and my love of quotes to help inspire people while looking at my wood signs! This is cool.

Is there a story behind your shop name and if so what is it? A couple of years ago I lay nearly on my death bed when I lost my entire colon to Ulcerative Colitis and since then I learned to live life every day to the fullest as if it was my last day here and I knew I was meant to use my hands and gifts from God so I started off making a friends sign and that's when he said "you have to start making these" and so Anchored Signs was created! Why Anchored?? Because the Anchor is a sign of hope and reminds me to stay grounded! It was my love for Anchors that I named my company after them! I am so glad that God brought you through this and how you are using your gifts now. What an amazing story.
When did you start selling online? About a year ago
And What drew you to sell online? People asking me. Cool.

What hopes do you have for your business in the future? To be able to continue making beautiful one of a kind pieces for people to cherish for all time! This is great.

What is your most favorite piece that you have made? I would have to say "steer by the compass of your soul" This sounds lovely.

What is one thing you would love to share with others who are considering going into the handmade business? "Do what you love" and "do whatever makes your heart and soul sing" because that's when you know you are doing something you love to do and sharing your work with others! This is great advice. Thanks for sharing.
