Meet the Maker: Amy from Red head and Blue

Hi friends! I am sorry for the delay in posting last weeks Meet the Maker. I was busy prepping and setting up for our big show in Doylestown, PA. If you live near Bucks County head on over to the Aldi Mansion for the Annual Lydia's Guild Holiday Craft show. We have a table there and would love if you stopped by, November 6-14.

Not too much else is new except it is our one daughter's 11th birthday today! Not sure where the time goes. If you would like to be featured in our Meet the Maker series please email me.

Without further ado, let's meet our Maker Amy from Redhead and Blue.

Where are you from?
I'm from a small Midwest town, Sheboygan Falls Wisconsin. Being a small-town girl is in my blood! I'm from a small town too. Just love the small town feel.

Where do you live now?
I live in Camarillo, California. My husband's job brought us here but we would love to get back to Wisconsin. I'd love to go tomorrow, but my husband keeps calling it our "5-year plan" that so far has never changed from 5 years as the years go by.  Well, hopefully, one day...
How long have you been crafting?
Since 2012.
Are there other types of crafting that you enjoy doing?
I have the most fun weaving. I'm also ridiculously slow at it and I pull out things that don't look how I envisioned so that adds even more time. It probably takes 10+ hours per weaving! But I do it while watching tv, so it's my relaxing time really. Oh cool.

When did you start selling online?
2012, my sister encouraged me to open an Etsy shop when I quit working for the worst boss ever! I didn't have something new lined up when I quit so she helped me get set up and just how to navigate the website and such. Oh wow. It kind of just came about.
And What drew you to sell online?
I knew that one day I wanted to be a Stay at Home mom and as much work as that is, I knew I wanted more than play dates and library visits. I wanted a focus that was all mine that I could do during nap time and while the kids played solo. Entrepreneurialism is in my veins - I used to own a B & B in Wisconsin (The Rochester Inn) and I also opened a cleaning business at the exact same time as my Etsy shop, knowing they both would need time to take off. Wow sounds like you keep yourself busy.

Where do you sell online?
Etsy mostly, but I opened my stand-alone shop in May as well. I had a baby in June so my shop needs some revamping, but it's still shoppable! I just need to add product and tweak some things to get it how I want it to look and operate. Congrats on the baby and shop. Hope you can find the time to tweak it to how you would like it,

Do you have any giveaways or sales coming up or other exciting things that you would like to be shared in your post?
I have a 10% off sale on Etsy with code FALL10, now through Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving). I do giveaways regularly on my IG. These sound great I will have to go and check them out.

Do you do your creating alone or with a partner or family member?
Solo - but I bounce ideas off my husband, sister and mom. That's great you have their support to bounce ideas off.

What hopes do you have for your business in the future?
I'd love to see my business grow to help our finances more. California is so expensive! And we have an old home that needs constant fixes, lol. Our AC died in a 90's heat waves 6 or so weeks ago and even though it's October, we are really HOT! Haha! My business does help us, I just would love to contribute more :) Like maybe fund a few Wisconsin trips a year! Now we go mostly just for Christmas every year.  This sounds like a wonderful hope and goal. I hope it works out for you.

What is your most favorite piece that you have made?
My dream catchers. I love that I have every color of the rainbow, and bright colors are totally my thing! But the cream-colored dream catcher just does it for me! I actually pulled it from the site so I could keep it, haha! I love bright colors too. It can be hard to part with some of one's creations.

Pictures are of: dryer balls, a dream catcher, felt ball bouquet, felted soap. The other product lines I have are weavings, wreaths, felt ball garlands and acorns, ornaments, cat toys, pet beds, essential oil kits, decorative wool balls, and my one non-wool product - flax and rice heating and cooling pads.
