Sidney Friedman Park (formerly Central Parklet) Downtown State Colleg

A sweet little park located downtown next to State High's football field.
Our family enjoy's this park. They have a sand pit, their typical cement pillars of various sizes, a climbing wall, small wooden house facades, benches, picnic tables, bikeway corridor and a small outdoor amphitheater.
During this time of year there was a plethora of carpenter bees burrowing into the many park benches, I don't think I have ever seen so many carpenter bees. A little overwhelming at first but thankfully they leave people alone.
Our three kids and myself enjoyed a nice picnic lunch and some run around time after a dance class downtown. There is plenty of pay parking nearby but to get free parking you will have to walk a few blocks. Great place to come hangout if you are downtown running various errands or some of your children are in a class of some sort and in need of something to do with the other children.
This park is used quite a bit in the summer with some small concerts, plays and Arts festival.
FYI if you don't like crowds, local preschools do bring children over to play on occasion so timing would be important. We have only encountered them before lunch the one time.
A definite place we will keep returning too.
I will try and add a picture maybe next time we visit.
