Meet the Maker: Marcela from Boo Boo Bean Shop

Hi, friends! How was your thanksgiving? We had a great time visiting with family. Too short of a trip but glad we were able to go. What did you do? Does your family have traditional foods or things you do for Thanksgiving?

Its time for another Meet the Maker post! Today I am excited to introduce you to another of the artists in our Holiday Art Box. Marcela is from Boo Boo Bean Shop and she's going to take over our blog and tell you about herself. So without further ado let's meet Marcela.
Hi! My name is Marcela, I am a graphic designer and mommy of two amazing little girls who we like to call "BooBoo" and "Bean". Needless to say, my inspiration for this shop and anything I do, is my two little ones. I started making hair bows to match their outfits and just fell in love with creating one-of-a-kind pieces for them. So with a little push from my loving hubby, I decided to start BooBooBean LLC, and share my creations with other little loves. I absolutely LOVE creating one-of-a-kind pieces for all ages, from everyday headbands and clips to over the top bows, bodysuits/tees, and special occasion tutu outfits. I love designing new items and take great pleasure in handcrafting great quality products.
Thank you for sharing Marcela. It is great to get to know you a little better.

Meet the Maker: Monica from Lil Bits of Mona

Hi, friends! Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. Where has the fall gone? What will you do for Thanksgiving? We will be visiting my family and my brother, his wife and her father have flown in for the occasion. We are excited to see everyone.

Today in our Meet the Maker series my new friend Monica will be taking over and sharing a little bit about herself. I met Monica through Instagram. She has some really fun pieces and I am excited to have her join us as one of our artists in our Holiday Art Box. Without further ado let's meet Monica!
Howdy, from Texas! I'm Monica, the creator behind Lil Bits of Mona. I'm a former teacher turned string art sign maker. I have used my love of teaching to hold a make and take workshop in my home garage and at a pop-up shop in Dallas. In addition to being a vendor at craft shows and markets, I also have a shop page on Etsy. For the past two years, I've also had the honor of receiving an honorable mention ribbon and having my string art signs on display at the Texas State Fair. I'd love to create something special for you!

You can find Monica online at the following locations:

You can still preorder one of our Holiday Art Boxes and get one of Monica's beautiful string art pieces as well as 6 other beautiful handmade items. You can get all of this handmade goodness, great for holiday gifts and help give back. All the proceeds following shipping costs will be donated to a Guatemalan women's cross-generational project that we found through Global Giving. For more information follow this link https://www.globalgiving.org/…/guatemala-womens-cross-gener…
By purchasing this box you are helping us to give job opportunities to Guatemalan women and education to their daughters. What an amazing opportunity to help these women and their families to get out of poverty.
Boxes are $25 plus taxes. (shipping is included)
Head over to our ETSY shop to purchase.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Holiday Art Charity Box is back!

Holiday Art Charity Box!

Hi Friends. How are you? It truly has been a long time since I have done a blog post. I am sorry about that. Life has been full. Taking care of my family and business. How have you been? How has your fall been? Fall is pretty much done for us, we just had our first snowfall over the weekend. Where does the time go?

As we are moving into the holiday season one of the things I love to do is to give back. Last year we curated a box of handmade goods and gave the proceeds to three different charities. This year we have curated goods from seven different artists including ourselves to put together another really fun holiday art box. The proceeds from the box this year will go to a charity I found on Global Giving. The project is for Guatemalan Women's cross-generational development project. Here is an excerpt from the page about the project:
"The project creates work for 125 indigenous women, using traditional weaving skills, so that they have income to be self sufficient and support their daughters entering a path of formal education."

So if you partner with us this year by purchasing one of our Holiday Art Boxes, you will not only be supporting artisans from the US but also helping these Guatemalan women and their daughters. How awesome is that? You will receive a box of handmade goods from seven different artists and the proceeds go to helping people get out of the cycle of poverty. The items in the box are worth over $60 and would make great gifts for yourself or friends and family this holiday season. Can you tell that I am excited?? We are only selling ten of these this year and two have already been claimed. So if you are interested head over to our ETSY shop to purchase.  Over the next couple weeks, I hope to feature each of the artists on our blog.

Meet the Blogger: Tia Mckenzie from Lady Stitch Has a Glitch.

Hi Friends!

How are you? How is your summer going? Ours has been pretty busy. The three older kids have all attended camp, as a family, we went to a conference in June, we finished up school, have gone to the pool, two of our kids participated in the kids day of Arts Fest just today. I have been running around trying to figure out where to send our youngest to school next year. Just this week we finally have that figured out for the most part. I got to be at a craft show a few weeks ago. My shop Mt Nittany Creations has been in several giveaways online. I have been selling my wares in a shop in Clearfield for the last several months and have an opportunity in August to be an artist in a Pop-up shop and go to Bead Fest in Philly. I am so excited about this opportunity. I also have started being a distributor for Young Living Oils. Needless to say, life has been full. Hence I have been kind of absent on my blog. I am sorry for that because I love the opportunity to introduce you all to some really neat people.

So for today's Meet the Maker we actually have a blogger, who similarly to me is trying to support small shops. So I am going to allow her to take over my blog and tell you about herself. Without further ado, let's meet Tia.

Hi! I am Tia. I am 27. I grew up in Arizona, but my home is now in Northern Idaho. I am a mom of three. Two stepdaughters and one son. Ages 12, 9 and 2.

I don't do crafting anymore (at least not to sell!) I am strictly a review / general life blogger. I started blogging as an outlet. My friends and I are all grown up now with children of our own so when I didn't see much of my closest friends anymore, at the time I was a stay at home mom I didn't get much social interaction with anyone. So I created working through life's glitches.

I was having the hardest time writing without sounding winey. I mean my days were pretty routine. I was dealing with a teething baby and my fiance was working full time and in school full time. After talking with my sister (who is a review blogger as well) she got me started on reviews. I thought this is an excellent way to help other companies out to get their names out there and it gives me a subject to write on. Plus I get to work my daily life into it! So it began.

Now I work full time, mom full time and blog almost full time. It works, I get to be creative, I get to help other companies, and I get to experience what is out there for small companies.

Meet the Maker: Kelly-Ann from Kelly-Ann Satra Jewelry

Hi friends! How are you? How is your spring going? We just finished up our homeschooling year and in a month our kids that go to school will be home and the summer will begin. I am looking forward to warmer weather and all the fun summer brings. What are you looking forward to this spring and summer?

It is time for another Meet the Maker! If you would like the opportunity to be interviewed or have your products reviewed please send me an email. This weeks meet the Maker will be a blog take over. Now without further ado lets meet Kelly-Ann.
Hi, I am Kelly-Ann and I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts.
I’ve lived in Georgia for almost 17 years now.
I’ve been crafting for almost 5 years.
I was drawn to jewelry making out of boredom.  One day I decided I needed something to do, in my search I came across a free jewelry making class at Michael’s. Leaving that first class, I knew I was hooked.
The name of my shop name is my actually my full name, Kelly-Ann Satra. I chose to use my name because I’m true to myself, I love and enjoy the simple, little things in life. I felt confident that I could and would create great work. I also knew that whatever I created would be a reflection of who I am.  I wanted my name to stand behind my work.

I started selling on online in 2015 and I recently launched my own website kellyannsatra.com back in October.
The reason I started selling online was after my husband asked me “so what are you going to do with all this? “
All my jewelry pieces are made by myself…I roll solo.
I would have to say my copper earrings are my favorite pieces, I have kept a few pieces for myself. They’re my favorites because they’re not perfect, they’re all different in some way.  Yet they’re beautiful.
I would encourage anyone who wants to enter the handmade business to have passion, courage, and patience.  Passion because you have to love what you do, 24/7. Courage. Because you will have to be bold and let yourself shine. You must be able to sell yourself, your product, believe in yourself and your product. Patience. Because success doesn’t happen overnight.  Everything takes time. Things have a way of falling into place.
Thank you for sharing Kelly-Ann. I wish you all the best with your jewelry business.
